Authorities are asking area residents to avoid three neighborhoods and two major roads following reports of explosions, a shootout and narcoblockades.
Reynosa residents reported on the social media network Twitter that they heard two loud detonations on the city's northwest side around 3 pm Sunday.
City officials later confirmed a "situation of risk" in the Colonia Rancho Grande, Colonia El Olmo and Colonia Hidalgo.
Reynosa officials also reported blockades along main thoroughfares such as Blvd Hidalgo and Praxedis Balboa.
City officials confirmed that numerous bridges throughout the city also have blockades.
Reynosa officials are asking residents to avoid those areas and roads until an "all-clear" signal is given.
